چکیده

A theoretical description of photoacoustic spectroscopy generated by wavelength modulation of a semiconductor laser source is reported for a Lorentzian absorption line. This model describes the firstand second-harmonic photoacoustic signals produced by a current-modulated semiconductor laser. Combined intensityand wavelength-modulation is considered with arbitrary phase shift. Experimental results obtained when probing a CO2 absorption line with a 2-lm distributed feedback laser are presented and validate the relevance of the reported model. 2005 Elsevier B.V. Sensitive wavelength-modulated photoacoustic spectroscopy with a pulsed optical parametric oscillator.

With a laser-excited acoustic wave as the carrier wave and by modulation of the light wavelength of a multikilohertz-repetition-rate optical parametric oscillator at a lower frequency than the acoustic frequency, we demonstrate a wavelength-amplitude double-modulation technique and achieve an enhancement factor of 35 in sensitivity in photoacoustic trace gas detection with the technique.

Quantitative photoacoustic assessment of red blood cell aggregation under pulsatile blood flow: experimental and theoretical approaches

In the present paper, the optical wavelength dependence on the photoacoustic (PA) assessment of the pulsatile blood flow was investigated by means of the experimental and theoretical approaches analyzing PA radiofrequency spectral parameters such as the spectral slope (SS) and mid-band fit (MBF). For the experimental approach, the pulsatile flow of human whole blood at 60 bpm was imaged using t...

Purely wavelength- and amplitude-modulated quartz-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy.

We report here on a quartz-enhanced photoacoustic (QEPAS) sensor employing a quantum cascade laser (QCL) structure capable of operating in a pure amplitude or wavelength modulation configuration. The QCL structure is composed of three electrically independent sections: Gain, Phase (PS) and Master Oscillator (MO). Selective current pumping of these three sections allows obtaining laser wavelengt...

Acousto-Optic Q-Switched Fiber Laser-Based Intra-Cavity Photoacoustic Spectroscopy for Trace Gas Detection

We proposed a new method for gas detection in photoacoustic spectroscopy based on acousto-optic Q-switched fiber laser by merging a transmission PAS cell (resonant frequency f₀ = 5.3 kHz) inside the fiber laser cavity. The Q-switching was achieved by an acousto-optic modulator, achieving a peak pulse power of ~679 mW in the case of the acousto-optic modulation signal with an optimized duty rati...

Fiber-amplifier-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy with near-infrared tunable diode lasers.

A new approach to wavelength-modulation photoacoustic spectroscopy is reported, which incorporates diode lasers in the near infrared and optical fiber amplifiers to enhance sensitivity. We demonstrate the technique with ammonia detection, yielding a sensitivity limit less than 6 parts in 10(9), by interrogating a transition near 1532 nm with 500 mW of output power from the fiber amplifier, an o...
